  1. That was AWESOME!! Thank you for the “first year” comments.. That was exactly what I needed to read!

  2. You have such gorgeous hair! I found your blog on pinterest and I am happy I found it. Thanks for this video! Unlike you, I found my first year stress free. I’m 3 years into this and between 2 heat-related setbacks, I’m considering doing a BC. I’ve found a few strands that have incomplete split ends high up the hair shaft and I’m pretty bummed about that. I try steaming and deep conditioning but I wonder if those strands will break off eventually. The temptation is to flat iron so I can get a trim but that seems counter-intuitive. What advice would you give someone who is trying to get their natural hair back in a healthy state (without doing a BC)?

Thanks in advance and keep up the gorgeous hair photos! 🙂

  3. 😦 soooo considering relaxing. Natural for a decade and only at shoulder length….time for relaxer?

  4. What products do you use to straighten your hair?

  5. My biggest advice is always listening to your hair. So many different things work for so many different people, so you have to pay attention to YOUR hair. It seems to me your hair is talking to you. Some people can use heat and have a success journey, growing their hair past waist length and even longer. Some just can’t take excessive or even minimal heat. You had two heat related setbacks… you have strands that are currently damaged from those incidents, I say your hair is saying cut back on the heat. LOL! (I know this sounds crazy, like your hair is talking to you, but you get it!)
Continue deep conditioning, that definitely can’t hurt. Have you tried a protein treatment? This is usually recommended by some after heat damage to strengthen the strands. I wouldn’t start cutting the hair. If it is damaged, it will eventually shed. If it is not hurting the look of your hair, just move forward.

I hope some of this helps you along the way!
    Good luck!

  6. It is totally your decision, but my question would be….when you relax what would be different?

  7. Here is the info on how I straightened my natural hair with a flat iron.
    Hope it helps! 🙂

  8. Hi Alicia!! How do you feel about taking hair vitamins? Have you tried them? I’m thinking of taking Hairfinity.

  9. I kind of cringe when I talk about hair vitamins I must admit. I believe that they do work, but I sometimes feel like they give false hope.
The best advice I can give is, if you are taking hair vitamins remember that no matter what your regimen and hair maintenance will still be number one when retaining length. The vitamins can make the hair stronger and may even make the hair grow faster, but maintenance and proper care is key overall. 🙂

  10. I NEED HELP with my hair. Sigh bawls

  11. Hi!
What questions do you have regarding hair?

  12. Thanks so much for the reply! I’m going to get a mini haircut (more for aesthetic reasons than anything 🙂 and stay off heat for as long as I can. I’ll also look into the protein treatment as well.
